How is periodontal disease treated?
If caught in the early stages, gum disease can be treated with scaling and root planning. This involves removing the build up of plaque and calculus using specialist dental equipment, followed by a deep clean and smoothing of the root surface. However, more advanced cases require increasingly complex treatments. This can involve surgical treatment and/or medication depending on what our periodontist considers to be the best course of action.
How much does it cost to treat periodontal disease?
Gum disease can be treated inexpensively if caught early on. However, it becomes significantly more costly and time-consuming to treat the more advanced it is. The cost of your gum disease treatment will therefore very much depend on the stage of the disease and its severity. This could be anywhere from £400 to £4,000, potentially much more for very advanced cases. Following your initial consultation we will be able to provide an accurate picture of costs.
