Please bear in mind the following considerations:
Is the implant system professionally recognised?
How internationally recognised is the implant system you are being offered? For peace of mind you really should be looking for a system with a long history of product development and research: this rarely comes ‘cheap’.
Are the replacement teeth well made?
Be aware that corners can be cut regarding the quality of the local laboratory work that produces the teeth you get. This is the really bespoke part which affects how good your new teeth will look, and how well they will perform.
Will they look after you properly?
Cheap implants in the UK tend to be from clinics where volume is king: they rely on rapid turnover, which invariably has a negative impact on the time allowed for your individualised patient care.
How experienced are the implant surgeons?
The surgeons are usually those nearer the beginning of their career, trying to build up their experience, and the difference between a really good implant surgeon and a ‘beginner’ can be pretty significant.
Will they meet the challenge of realistic front teeth?
Front teeth, particularly very visible upper ones, are quite hard to do well and achieve a nice realistic looking gum line that matches your other teeth. To achieve this requires time and training, which is what you are really paying for at a high quality implant surgery.

The pitfalls of going abroad for dental implants explained VIDEO (59 seconds)
Please bear in mind the following considerations:
Dental training standards abroad can be lower.
If you go abroad for cheaper implants, dental training standards often will not be as high and as well regulated as in the UK.

Will you be able to return for implant maintenance?
Implants aren’t just a ‘one-off’ procedure: there is a long-term consideration, particularly for more complex implants. You must assess how you feel about returning (possibly several times) to the country where you had your initial treatment for any maintenance or remedial work that may need doing.
Frequently asked questions
Cheap dental implants?
The physical implants themselves can be fine (although probably of lower quality). But what you are really paying for is the skill and experience of your implant surgeon and the care and aftercare of the clinic team. It is entirely up to you if you want to opt for a ‘cut price’ implant treatment, but the overall patient experience is unlikely to be as good as you would receive here. In a nutshell, you get what you pay for!
Affordable dental implants?
Most dedicated implant clinics will offer some sort of loan scheme that should make your implant treatment more affordable. We do, and you can find out more by asking at reception.

Dental implants abroad?
These might at first appear attractively priced. However you may not be getting an internationally recognised implant system with a solid history of product development and research. Implant training and procedures may not be as well regulated as they are in the UK. Finally you should also assess how willing you would be to return abroad in the longer term for the typical maintenance your implants will need, or any remedial work required.
