Researchers Examine Baby Teeth For Clues About Autism

Researchers have been studying baby teeth to examine nutrients that may have a link to the developmental disorder known as autism.

Takeaways:

– A new layer of tooth is produced daily by a fetus in the womb.

– Researchers are studying these rings to check nutrient levels.

– Researchers have identified differences in levels of zinc and copper in the baby teeth of children with and without autism.

Good nutrition for baby’s healthy teeth begins during pregnancy, see a dentist for more information.

“The research suggests that the way infants metabolize two nutrients — zinc and copper — may predict who will develop the condition.”
