Virginia was originally referred by her dentist to the local hospital oral surgery department as she was suffering with a recurrent infection on a crowned upper right lateral incisor front tooth. It was apparent to the oral surgeon that this tooth was unable to be saved and it was recommended that Virginia came to see us for consultation about a dental implant instead.
When we saw Virginia, it was immediately apparent that she had a high smile line and that it was going to be very important for her to have a good aesthetic result from the proposed implant treatment. I felt confident that we could achieve a good cosmetic and functional replacement for the tooth using dental implant treatment. The 2 challenges with this type of case are maintenance of good soft tissue contour, particularly the little pink points between the teeth called papillae, and achieving a perfect match in colour, translucency and shape when compared with the other front teeth.
We were able to achieve an excellent result for Virginia by use of careful surgical technique, minor bone augmentation to support the soft tissue, and working with the latest technology – Zirconium implant components and an all-ceramic crown, both of which are metal-free therefore allowing for the very best aesthetic outcome.
All the treatment was painlessly achieved under local anaesthesia and has produced a great final result.
The treatment itself was really easy, no pain, no discomfort. I was so amazed by the results it looks so natural.
